Are We Ready for a Market in Fetal Organs?

This is going to create some very tough decisions for some very otherwise well meaning people. We have a three year old granddaughter. At birth it was determined that she had a serious heart defect. Five surgeries later the only option remaining was a complete transplant. In order to receive a heart another child had to die and they had a suitable donor within two months following a car accident in another province where the parents had agreed to giving the organs to wherever they were most needed.

I can imagine the angst a couple might go through if they knew their own child was about to die but had heard of organs available more readily?

I’m still holding hope that 3D printed organs will be the future
