Mary had to be assumed into heaven, since she was conceived without sin. As such, her body could not be subject to decay.

This is why I like depictions of Mary where she appears in the prime of her life, neither youthful nor mature. Since her body was incorruptible, she would not have shown to be aged past her prime.
