I read a very interesting article from the Washington Times that suggests that Western society as a whole is beginning to submit to Islamic Law. Sound impossible?? Read on. It’s SCARY!

Cartoon rage

We need to learn a new word: dhimmitude. I’ve written about dhimmitude periodically, lo, these many years since September 11, but it takes time to sink in. Dhimmitude is the coinage of a brilliant historian, Bat Ye’or, whose pioneering studies of the dhimmi, populations of Jews and Christians vanquished by Islamic jihad, have led her to conclude that a common culture has existed through the centuries among the varied dhimmi populations. From Egypt and Palestine to Iraq and Syria, from Morocco and Algeria to Spain, Sicily and Greece, from Armenia and the Balkans to the Caucasus: Wherever Islam conquered, surrendering dhimmi, known to Muslims as “people of the book [the Bible],” were tolerated, allowed to practice their religion, but at a dehumanizing cost.

Freedom Of Expression:
Islam gives the right of freedom of thought and expression to all citizens of the Islamic state on the condition that it should be used for the propagation of virtue and truth and not for spreading evil and wickedness. The Islamic concept of freedom of expression is much superior to the concept prevalent in the West. Under no circumstances would Islam allow evil and wickedness to be propagated. It also does not give anybody the right to use abusive or offensive language in the name of criticism. It was the practice of the Muslims to enquire from the Holy Prophet whether on a certain matter a divine injunction had been revealed to him. If he said that he had received no divine injunction, the Muslims freely expressed their opinion on the matter.

Read it carefully! Muslims claim the right to decide what is virtue and truth for the entire world. Saying anything at all against Mohammed and Islam is considered abusive and offensive. And, in case you haven’t realized it yet, preaching the Christian Gospel is the spreading of evil and wickedness in the Muslim mind.

The majority of our “free press” has been spineless in this whole cartoon mess. Total hypocrasy. They’re giving away our freedom in the name of “good taste” which of course, as we all know, has never been afforded to any other religion. They make me want to throw up! Muslims in Canada are even trying to have a news magazine which reprinted the cartoons prosecuted for hate crimes. Rewarding the Muslim tantrums over these stupid cartoons is a HUGE mistake. Disrespecting a person because of their beliefs is one thing while not being allowed to speak against those beliefs is quite another!!

The New York Times which has no problem printing pictures of the BVM with manure on her or a Crucifix in Urine.Won’t print those cartoons of Muhammad. The most liberal newspaper in America. The one that screams against any attempted censorship by the govt. has caved into to a bunch of Muslim thugs. So yes it looks like the Times is submitting to Muslim law, hypocrits,
LONG LIVE DENMARK !!

Thumbs down to the New York Times! Boo Hiss! Talk about double standards. Wimps is what they are for being afraid to stand up to Islamic bullies!

YES, LONG LIVE DENMARK! LAST WEEK I BOUGHT DELICIOUS HAVARTI CHEESE, IMPORTED FROM DENMARK!

Yes, perhaps the western media is submitting to Islamic law. Or maybe they’re just afraid of putting their foreign staffers in danger of their lives. Sad situation either way.

Why is it a good thing to make fun of Islam, just because people make fun of Christianity? Of course the NYT has a double standard. The question is whether they should treat Christianity with some of the same respect they show Islam, or whether they should treat Islam with the contempt they show Christianity. I tend to favor the former.

On the other hand, sometimes secular sources say genuinely false things in favor of Islam. I use a Western Civ textbook (yes, why do I use it? I picked it at short notice originally, and it’s pretty good in most ways) that explicitly says that “jihad” really doesn’t mean warfare strictly speaking, but it can refer to “fair, defensive fighting.” The “defensive” part is, of course, nonsense. I point this out in class (though more politely), but I suspect the students think the textbook knows better than I do (a reasonable assumption). So I probably should be using another one.

The most important thing is not freedom of speech nor freedom of the press.

The most important thing is to know, love and serve God in this world and to be happy with Him forever in the next.

Because our religion is important to us, we believe other people’s religion is important to them. Therefore, we respect the religious beliefs of other people.

Religion is not important to many of the members of the press, therefore they do not respect the religion of other people.

To insult another person’s religion is wrong. We know it is wrong because we care about our own religion.

The best way to hit back at these lunatics is to patronize all Danish products. Hams, cheeses, wines, whatever.

Hi Chris,
I wish all Catholics have same view as you have. What you said truly reflects the will of Christ.

In that case, then, speaking the truth is “considered abusive and offensive.”

And the truth is that Mohammed was a sinner, just like us.
