I’m sure this topic has been discussed, if so just lead me to that thread and I’ll ask my question there… thanks

How do you know you are following God’s will or you’re own? I know the Holy Spirit is suppose to guide you to do God’s will… but doesn’t mean you know you’re doing it… so how do you know?

God wills that I go to heaven and that I do good works in this life, that I live in friendship with Him, that I avoid sin. He wills that I follow the precepts of the Church and the laws of charity.

Each night before I close my eyes, I do an examine of conscious for the day that is past. Each morning I resolve to do good works, avoid sin, follow His precepts.

Even if its something I dont want to do, I must remeber this is pleasing to God, this is Glorifying God, this is for Him not you, for someone He wants you to help not you, He comes first… remeber that and Im doing His will.

Remeber God doesn’t ever ask us for more then we can handle, ask us to do more then we are capable… right?

What if I dont want too, but still do it…not in a nasty mean way, in a pleasing happy way. In fact the person never knows I dont want to do what Im doing, they say Im a blessing from God… is it still pleasing to God?

What I posted makes me sound like a mean person, and thats not pleasing to God, but what I mean is…if God didnt ask us to do things I probablly wouldnt do them… but I do just to please God even if I couldnt care if they are done or not… I want to to please Him and thats all I care about, not one else… so is that doing God’s will?

Let’s say for example a Dad asked both his Sons to wash the dishes.

The first Son does exactly what his Dad asked without any hesitation.
The second Son does what his Dad asked but complains and moans.

Which one has done the will of their Dad ? Both have.
The only difference being one complained and the other did not.

So don’t feel bad for complaining as we all do at some stage.

I guess Im remebering what my mom told me as a child…“if youre doing it with (mala gana) dont do it”… mala gana in english is umm reluctantly. Withou really wantong to do it… with bad intentions.

WOW 2 little words means so much in english… lol

So long as Im pleasing God, nothing else matters, Im doing Gods will so how I feel about it is okay?

slaps self in head real HARD
God, Im so stupid… Its not like Jesus was skipping with joy when he went to the cross… okay now I feel dumb and selfish. 😦😦

I just dont want to be a hypocrite sigh

I tend to overthink things. Short answer is I don’t know.

I understand that all is as God wills it. Where does God want me to be? Right where I am. What does God want me to do? The best I can.

However, I don’t feel as though I’m in harmony with Christ, or His Church & that’s what I’m working on now. Through prayer, lifting one’s heart to God.

I pray the Mass, every chance I get. I pray morning & evening prayers. I respect the liturgical calendar, the seasons. I believe once I’m in harmony with the Church, I’ll be in harmony with Christ & be more able to discern His will.
