We all have probably heard of Gnosticism (or, Gnostic Christianity). It was referred to by all of the early Church as heresy. It was later overshadowed by Arianism and other threats, yes, but modern streams of Gnosticism are around today.

I know that many early Church Fathers, Desert Fathers, and many other Saints wrote extensively against Gnosticism above all else. But I’ve encountered a Gnostic on one thread, and I feel like such a “doof” – I can’t find anything specifically against Gnosticism! The Saints who wrote on the issue must be shaking their heads.

Are there any simple materials against this? Just as a quick, easy refutation?

This is the thread to which I’m referring. At the end, one user is advocating Gnostic ideology.

Ss. Irenaeus, Justin Martyr, Augustine, pray for us!

You can’t because it is adhoc and meant to attract prideful followers. Read Ireneaus’ " Contra Heresiae". All does is lay it it out in its convoluted compexity, and it become self mocking. If you try to argue it from one pov, they shift their emphsis to a “higher” plane and denigrate whatever creatures inhabit the lower. Actually, there is no end of “higher” planes, just as there is no end to imagined “postulates” for them.

Am I misrepresenting the religion?

The canon of the biblical script will always orient itself according to the divine monastic law.
