in the old testament, there are many things that are “signs of things to come”, otherwise known as biblical “types”. some of these are called out specifically (circumcision → baptism, jonah’s 3 days → Jesus’ resurection, etc.) - see: Col. 2:17, Heb. 1:1, 9:9, 9:24, 10:1; 1 Cor. 15:45-49; Gal. 4:24-25.Col. 2:17, Heb. 1:1, 9:9, 9:24, 10:1; 1 Cor. 15:45-49; Gal. 4:24-25.
three of the (many) things that prefigure Christ are:
the 10 commandments (the “word of God”)
manna from heaven (the Eucharist - the “Bread of Life”)
aaron’s rod (Christ as the fulfillment of the aaronic priesthood).
all three of these were carried within the ark of the covenant (old testament), just as Christ was carried within Mary. in the old testament, the ark was where God dwelled among the israelites, seen as the Shekina Cloud of Glory which overshadowed it. in Luke, you’ll see the same imagery used to “overshadow” Mary. you can also see strong parrallels between the ark in 2 Samuel 6 and Luke 1, something obvious to 1st century jews (but far less so to us).
this is a very rich area to really grow in devotion to our Blessed Mother, and i encourage you to search more deeply. old testament typology is how i came to her side, overcomming some silly protestant prejudices i was carrying with me. btw, here’s a link to some more interresting reading:
The apostle John drives this point home in his vision recorded in the Book of Revelation 11:19 as the Ark was revealed in God’s temple immediately before the woman clothed with the sun appeared in heaven. Rev 12:1.
