His Beatitude, Nerses Bedros XIX, Catholicos-Patriarch of the Armenian CC, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, 25 June. The solemn funeral was held today at the Cathedral of Ss Gregory & Elias in Beirut.

May he rest with the Righteous and the Just.
 
Ant. 1 O Lord, in your light we see light itself.

No follower of mine wanders in the dark; he shall have the light of life (John 8:12).

It was truly unexpected.
Supreme Head of the Universal Syriac Orthodox Church, His Holiness Patriarch Moran Mor Ignatius Aphrem II participated in the funeral of Late Lamented Armenian Catholic Patriarch Nerses Bedros XIX.
The ceremony was attended by His Holiness Catholicose Aram I, Armenian Orthodox Catholicose of Cilicia, Their Beatitudes: Maronite Patriarch Cardinal Mar Bechara Boutros Al-Rai, Greek Catholic Patriarch Gregorius III Lahham, Mor Ignatius Youssef III Younan, Coptic Catholic Patriarch Ibrahim Ishak. His Eminence Cardinal Leonardo Sandri represented His Holiness Pope Francis and many archbishops attended representing church leaders from Lebanon and the Middle East.

He was very recently with HH Francis “I conserve in my heart the memory of my encounter with him, accompanied by the bishops of the Synod and the faithful of this Patriarchal Church, on the occasion of the commemoration of the victims of the Metz Yegern and the proclamation of St. Gregory of Narek as as Doctor of the universal Church,” the Pope stated.
He looks so happy and robust in this video just a few weeks ago.
