Commemoration ceremonies are being held in Armenia on April 24 to mark the massacre of Armenians in the Ottoman Empire 104 years ago.

In Yerevan, hundreds of thousands of people marched to the Tsitsernakaberd hilltop memorial to lay flowers at the eternal flame that commemorates victims of what Armenia describes as genocide.
I hope this is the right area for this. Today, this is remembered. There are numerous stories on this. If this is not the right area, please move to “world news”.

There is a movie called “Armenia My Love” at youtube. I think it’s acceptable, does not have excessive violence or much at all. It would probably get a PG rating, there is no cussing or anything like that. I think it was largely made by the Armenian-American community especially the community from Southern California. It’s the official release of this movie. It is not a non-copyrighted version.

Wer redet heute noch von der Vernichtung der Armenier? – Adolf Hitler (August, 1939)

“Who, after all, speaks today of the annihilation of the Armenians?”

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said the deportation of Armenians by the Ottoman Empire in the early 20th century was “reasonable” at the time.😡

Erdogan made the comment Wednesday at a symposium where he slammed France for marking the Ottoman campaign against the Armenians as a genocide.

I cannot believe Turkey still has the gall to deny the Armenian genocide. It is also worth noting that the Armenians were not the only Christians of the Empire to be subjected to genocide; the Assyrians, Greeks, and Maronites were also targeted for extermination as well.

There is a tradition that the Apostles Judas Thaddeus and Bartholomew brought Christianity to Armenia. Armenia became the first country to establish Christianity as its state religion.

Here in São Paulo we have this monument to them, at the Armenia square.
This used to be an Armenian neighborhood, and funny enough, this monument and the avenue that crosses it separates an Armenian Catholic parish from an Orthodox Armenian church.

Even if they shackle my feet, tie my hands, cover my mouth, my heart will scream for freedom.
Monument erected in memory of the one and a half million of Armenian martyrs slaughtered by the Turks in April of 1916.

But never forget the Armenian genocide of 1894-1896, the “prelude” of the 1916 barbarity.

I had heard of a previous pogrom, I forget the year but close to 1915.

If one is fair, there was a crackdown against Turkic types of persons in Georgia at one time. Many fled that country.

We have to try to move forward and not repeat the errors and tragedies of the past. Of course, one still wants what is as close to justice as possible and reasonable. To not forget what has happened.

There certainly is a lot of history and detail in all of this.

Yes, this affected other ethnic Christian groups as well.

I believe the Assyrian International News Agency has some historic articles as well.

The Turkish government’s long standing policies regarding this horrible chapter of history is shameful. A century later, they still refuse to admit to the atrocities committed and the horrors endured by the long suffering and persecuted Armenian minority in the Ottoman Empire.

There is a great movie on Amazon Prime called The Promise about Armenian genocide.
