Today online, I saw people wishing Pope Saint John Paul II a happy birthday. No offense, but as Catholics, do we still celebrate birthdays after someone has passed away?

Generally speaking its not something that Catholics typically do. However, to wish a deceased person a Happy Birthday does at least show a faith in eternal life.

Liturgically when the Church celebrates a saint we celebrate it on the date that the saint died, their heavenly birthday if you will.

While wishing a deceased person a Happy Birthday is not typical or usual, its also not against anything in our faith.
