Can a person be ‘ashed’ twice?
I have first mass at a residential facility. It includes Rosary, Annointing of the sick mass and doing the Ashes.

The second Mass is with the Bishop, and is Mass and doing Ashes. I am helping with the ashes at the second Mass.
Can I be ashed twice. I know I can take communion twice.

Thanks

You can be “ashed” as many times as you like on Ash Wednesday so long as you don’t trivialize its meaning in your heart.

Ashes aren’t a sacrament. Yes, you can receive ashes more than once on Ash Wednesday.

I can’t imagine a genuine need to do this.
If you are helping to distribute ashes later int he day, you already ave your ashes on. You wouldn’t wash them off, and the person giving you the ashes would be startled, I think.
I wouldn’t. It’s an outward sign, not a vehicle for grace.
I word in a parish. I always receive my ashes at 7 am. They remain for the rest of the day, and I often have duties at the evening Mass. I would not receive again. It’s not at all necessary.

Its two Masses in the same day. Thats not uncommon for me. The first Mass is really a working Mass, if that makes sense. But the priest is very old school and likes 100% participation in sacraments. And He does the coming around to people instead of everyone goes up to him for Communion.
They are both big Masses Wednesday though.
I know I can take communion at both Masses, and participate in annointing at the first Mass.
I was unsure with the ashes. And if receiving the ashes could only be done once, then I would pick which Mass to do that. This is the first time I will be doing any task at Mass. its helping the Bishop with the ashes so rather then explain why I already have ashes at the alter when He gives us ashes , before we help distribute, just leave the ashes till that Mass.
Although most people know a few of us are going straight from one mass to the other.
