I would like to thank those who prayed for my prior request and ask for new prayer intentions.

First, I am out of work and seeking a new job. I very much need a job soon as I have been through several financial setbacks and cannot pay my bills without work much longer. Specifically, I need well suited work where I can excel, among good people, which pays enough for current needs and substantial retirement savings.

I also ask for your prayers for my success in improving my health. I lost some weight while still employed but losing my job has been a setback and I want to continue toward my goal and get unstuck. I am diabetic and have medical need to lose about 40 lbs. I find it very difficult to avoid gluttony and sloth particularly as I am out of work.

Thank you all. You are in my prayers as well.

Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to thy protection, implored thy help, or sought thine intercession was left unaided.

I pray that the Lord grants you a job that treats you well and pays you well. I also pray that God helps you lose 40 pounds. Amen.

Prayer to St. Joseph for the Unemployed

O Saint Joseph, we pray to you for those who are out of work, for those who want to earn their living or support their families.

You who are the patron of workers; grant that unemployment may vanish from our ranks; that all those who are ready to work may put their strength and abilities in serving their fellowmen and earn a just salary.

You are the patron of families; do not let those who have children to support and raise lack the necessary means. Have pity on our brothers and sisters held down in unemployment and poverty because of sickness or social disorders. Help our political leaders and captains of industry find new and just solutions. May each and every one have the joy of contributing, according to his abilities, to the common prosperity by an honorable livelihood. Grant that we may all share together in the abundant goods God has given us and that we may help underprivileged countries. Amen.

Prayer for a Miracle

God of all creation, you who spoke a simple command and brought forth light from

the darkness, I ask you now to send forth your miracle-working power to heal (Kindnessmatter). You cleansed the lepers, opened the eyes of the blind and by

speaking a simple command, you empowered the crippled to rise up and walk.

You sent forth your life-giving power to all those in need, including those you raised from

the dead. I ask you to send forth your healing power into Kindnessmatter’s body and give him the strength to fight his illness. I ask this through my Lord, Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen

I read all of your kind prayers and will do so again each day. I was enabled to swim half a mile today, though I didn’t want to go at first. I also started using an online program to track my food. I am on track today and feeling better.

I will be working on improving my resume later this evening. Prayers work in many ways, and in this case, it is reassuring in a cold winter day without work, and with all this ugliness in Washington, to know that perfect strangers share my faith, care and would take the time to pray for and with me.

Prayer and faith continue to work I my life. There are those who think prayer is empty, silly, a panacea of the masses…it is very redeeming and healing to know otherwise.

God, our Father, we turn to you seeking your divine help and guidance as we look for suitable employment. We need your wisdom to guide our footsteps along the right path, and to lead us to find the proper things to say and do in this quest. We wish to use the gifts and talents you have given us, but we need the opportunity to do so with gainful employment. Do not abandon us, dear Father, in this search, but rather grant us this favor we seek so that we may return to you with praise and thanksgiving for your gracious assistance. Grant this through Christ, our Lord. Amen.
