Hi all. A great day on the 11th of September, ‘Rob Marris Assisted Dying Bill’ was rejected by a sizeable vote, in parliament. However, I received a response from our local MP who said she voted for Legal Suicide - or as she put it, “Assisted Dying”. She stated that although suicide is an illegal act, suggesting such an act, is not illegal?!

Can someone please tell me where the logic is in saying that to commit an act is illegal but to suggest, promote, even recommend an illegal act, is not?

And if this logical reasoning applies, then are we also talking about the charge of manslaughter for all those who suggest abortion as a viable option, if abortion was to be made an illegal act, that is?

The contradiction reminds me of one that the Pope pointed out, though in different context, with Climate Change pushers, who say we should look after the environment, of nature, but then don’t necessarily have the same regard for unborn babies, who, at the very least, are a part of nature too, let along humanity?

Assisted Dying is an abomination and doctors are doing it now whether it is legal to do so or not.

My first-born son got cancer that wasn’t discovered until it was already Stage 4. When he entered the final stage or what they thought was the final stage, his doctors put him in an induced coma and denied him fluids as they put it, “to help him die”. His wife had the authority in his care so I could do nothing.

He held on for 3 days. Anyone, a healthy person, will die after being denied water for 3 days. Had they done an autopsy, they would have determined that my son died of dehydration, not from the cancer.

His doctors killed him, just as surely as if they had put a bullet in his brain, and a bullet would have been much more merciful.

As it was, he was tortured to death. At first, I thought he was not aware or feeling anything due to being in the induced coma, but on the last day, they told me that he was fully conscious and aware of everything going on around him, that he could hear and understand us when we were speaking. It was only a light coma - aware, hearing but unable to communicate.

Then the full horror came home to me. He was aware of his raging thirst, his swollen tongue, his inability to breath normally, but he couldn’t tell us, he couldn’t ask for a drink of water. Dying of thirst is one of the most horrible ways to die and his doctors inflicted this on him to ‘help’ him to die.

Assisted Dying is nothing less than murder. Promoting Assisted Dying should be prosecuted as Solicitation to Murder even if there is no specific victim in mind to be ‘assisted to die’.

Thank you very much for your post, and sharing this. I really hope people read of your absolutely tragic account to wake them up.

I can see how this is one giant heap of sorrow in every circumstance to do with the situation you have described. A great burden for anyone’s heart. I am really, really sorry to hear this, and for you. My sympathies and condolences. It is difficult to convey this online.

You have spoken to a priest? If not, it might be a step to take. I expect you have. Asking people to pray for you, especially suffering people is also a good step, but I guess you have done that. I would expect pro-life organisations would take an interest in this heart-rending account and no doubt sharing such an account with them might bring direction.

It sounds a tough thing to suggest, but I do wish you peace, and no doubt your child in Heaven is hoping you find peace too and praying for you also from there.

Thank you again.
