Here in England we had an unusually dry , warm summer .

It was brightened even more by the England football team which got to the semi-finals of the World Cup in Russia .

I put much of their success and popularity down to the manager Gareth Southgate .

He respected the young players and in turn they respected him , and this passed on to the nation .

Thanks Gareth !!!

I grew my very first tomato plant and I have three tomatoes ripening right now, I guess I’ll be eating them next year!

I found CAF and some really nice people on it!

And it was actually a very good year for the roses in the UK.

Superficially, 2018 was a dreadful year for me, in a worldly aspect, but not in a spiritual one (praise be to God!). I buried my only sibling, I lost 2 jobs, even my faithful companion (my lovable mutt, Duncan) had to be put down…however, the Theological Virtues of Faith, Hope, and Charity have allowed me to, regardless of hardships and disappointments to (Philippians 4:4) Rejoice in the Lord Always!..I will say it again…Rejoice!

I discovered this choir of Welsh lads in 2018 , Only Boys Aloud .

They cheer me up .

Hmmm, in no particular order:
  • Enjoyed a year of challenges at work
  • Rode a steam powered locomotive for our anniversary
  • Appeared on Jeopardy!*
  • Went on an ocean cruise combo-celebrating my birthday and our 3rd of a Century anniversary (33-⅓ years)
  • Passed my expiration date (older than my father ever got to be)
  • Loved that my baby girl returned to town after several California years
  • Endured a local tragedy
It’s been a pretty good year.

(On the down-side:
I have not enjoyed nor participated as much in CAF. I still miss the old forum and don’t think I’ll ever understand how this interface is more appealing to some people?

2 out of 3 contestants don’t win that game. Had I reigned as champion I might have let yinz know about it here

My son got married back in March.

No major troubles or upheavals for myself or my family. Everyone survived 2018 alive and well.

I can’t complain!

Kind of a repairing year ,after the one before with many trials on a few different levels.
Went through divorce for the second time 🧐

As I go from one year to another I increasingly realise the folly of putting faith in humans , and in particular in political leaders .

In younger days I had great faith in what politics can achieve . Now I know that what was hoped for in past ideals usually comes to nothing .

Even friends , those trusted mostly , can let you down .

As it ought , the truthfulness of God’s Word takes on a more profound influence over how the world and all within it are to be viewed .

For as God’s Word says , “The foolishness of God is wiser than human wisdom…For the wisdom of this world is foolishness in God’s sight…Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world?..It is better to take refuge in the LORD than to trust in humans…so that your faith might not rest on human wisdom, but on God’s power…Do not trust a neighbour; put no confidence in a friend.”

Other than the Eagles Super Bowl win and going to the Holy Land, I have even less desire to think about this year than usual. I pretty much hate New Years Eve, reminiscing, resolutions and the whole nine yards, especially since my dad died on New Years at the end of 1990.

I will now mute this and any other New Years threads so y’all can enjoy them.

I think that is just part of being human, the more we get to know people they will let us down in little ways…and us them.Thats something I look forward to in heaven ,no letting down.
But it’s just something that we have to accept here on earth:) Human nature I think.
