From the time I was nineteen till I was 26 I didn’t believe in God at all. I was a total atheist. Why? Well I had witnessed so many terrible things and seen so much hatred and bitterness that I never saw how there could be a God, let alone a loving God who took an interest in and cared anything about us at all.
But now I’ll say this. Whether or not there is a God or not, whether or not my faith is true, I know this at least to be true.
Before I believed my life was cold and empty. Now that I do believe my life is happy and full of hope.
If it is a fairy tale, well so let it be. It has brought me happiness as nothing else ever could and what else can I ask?
