I was an atheist who became a Catholic. The Holy Spirit is VERY powerful 🙂

I really enjoyed this; thanks for posting it. Seems as if she went from Atheist to Christian to
Catholic as a journey. I noticed her emotion as she spoke of the Eucharist as well and also
doing good for others and why had changed.

Fabulous.
Welcome Home to her 🙂

I have been thinking about starting a thread along this line. But perhaps this would be a good place.

I would love to hear some testimonies from some of you Christians who use to be atheists. I sure there were factors leading up to it but particularly what was the deciding factor.

Hello friend,

I was brought up by an atheist father & agnostic mother. I was never taught anything about faith, nor did I enter a church for the first twenty years of my life. My entire mindset was totally secular - apart from a love of Cosmology, which had a sort of spiritual dimension.

It was the glory of the stars, nebulae, galaxies, quasars, pulsars, and wonders of scientific reality that brought me to God, little-by-little. Logic & reason convinced me that God exists as manifestly as the sun exists. Faith came in only when I had to decide whether this infinite, eternal, necessary Being was essentially good or essentially bad.

Most atheists pride themselves on their lofty intellect. I did as well, until I began to read St. Thomas Aquinas’ Summa Theologica. The first sections of the First Part deal entirely with God. I recommend it for all atheists, simply because it immediately humbles us and shows us how irrational our objections often are. Thomas actually begins by saying that the existence of God is not self-evident! The honesty was the first thing to move my heart.

This short page was instrumental to my conversion:

newadvent.org/summa/1002.htm

Remember: faith & reason are integral. Reason & logic, when actually exercised, say “I believe God EXISTS”. Faith & love, when actually exercised, say “I believe IN God”. One is not the same as the other.

Thanks be to God for this woman who converted and decided to tell everyone! May God bless all atheists who are honestly seeking the truth.

Any more testimonies? I think this is a fascinating and inspirational thread.

I chose St. Paul as my confirmation name when I converted to Christianity, because when I was an atheist I persecuted Christians. I thought Christianity to be stupid, bigoted, medieval, and Christians in general to be sheep going off the cliff.

One day I was in my bed. I started crying and I just had a complete theophany, everything that I hated and opposed suddenly became obviously true to me, and in the blink of an eye I went from being an uninformed atheist to a terrified and bewildered Christian.

From there, I just wanted to worship in the original church of Christ, which was evidently the Catholic Church. 🙂

God bless!

I know what you mean. I wasn’t opposed to God at the time but I had something similar happen when I was very young. I was walking into my room and my body stopped. Thousands of things entered my mind at great speed and changed me forever. I went from a child like belief in what ever a parent tells them, to an a priori like knowing. I immediately started reading the Bible every night and getting active in church.

I regularly follow Jennifer Fulwiler’s blog. She was an athiest who converted to Catholicism. She’s also a very talented and humorous writer. You can find her conversion story on her site.

Thank you for this.

My son is considering that he might be an atheist. We can’t really talk too much about it, or I’ll push him more into it.

Please pray for him, my niece, and all those who are, or are considering being, atheist.

God bless.

I remember when this video was at 54% dislike thumbs down.
Then I liked it thumbs up and months later it was majority thumbs up.
