Been there done that.

You and gurney, enjoy them while they are young. They grow up far too fast. Then you have to enjoy them from a distance.

Here is the skinny, We are redeemed by the blood of Christ, we trust in Jesus Christ alone for our salvation and as the Bible says we work toward our salvation with fear and trembling. He died for the debt of original sin, that we may die to ourselves. without Jesus dying on the cross we would have no chance at eternal salvation. This does not mean that we can go out there and become mass murderers and expect to receive the promises of Christ

Oh my Jesus Have Mercy on Us
Forgive us our sins,
Save us form the fires of hell.
Take all Souls into Heaven,
especially those most in need of thy mercy

He came to teach and set an example pure and simple. Nothing more nothing less. As a man was going to die either way(cross or not). All part of the example as the perfect man.

He just so happen to choose a path that would lead to a very public death for the express purpose of making his humanity known.
 
So what do you make of Isaiah’s prophecies saying “it was our infirmities that he bore, our suffering that he endured…” and “he was pierced for our offenses, crushed for our sins” and “upon him was the chastisement that makes us whole.” Then also in Isaiah 53 it says “[He was]smitten for the sin of his people” and “he gives his life as an offering for sin” and “their guilt he shall bear.” I’m just curious what your take on that is? It sounds awfully sacrificial and substitutionary and not just coming to be a good example to me…
