Attempt to resurrect pre-vatican II mass leaves Church at crossroads

We do not walk in the bishops’ shoes; we do not know who and what they have to deal with. If it were simply a matter of people wanting to go to the EF, I would suspect that we would see more of the EF throughout the various dioceses. However, in reading threads herein, it is not hard to see that there are a number of folks who, to put it politely, minimize Vatican 2; Paul 6th was prescient in his encyclical Humanae Vitae, and it appears that he was prescient also about how some conservatives would react to Vatican 2.

It was interesting to see the comment by Father Ratzinger; it would be more interesting to see if he ever withdrew or modified that comment later as priest, or bishop, or Cardinal.

To simply dismiss the comment as “modernist” is not only to show almost total ignorance of what Modernism constituted, but also a rather ad hominem comment about the man who would (eventually) be Pope.

It’s not the National Catholic Register, the link is to the heterodox National “catholic” reporter which has had their use of the world catholic rescinded by their bishop.

Perhaps there is a misunderstanding in regards to the bold.
How is it that the “post Vatican ll Mass” woships God less than any other. Maybe you could flesh that out for fuller understanding. I mean specifically, beyond tastes for language and music or vestments?

If the pre-Vatican II was 100% reverent toward God, how is chopping a ton of the mass going to be 100% too? The Church even chopped the St. Michael prayer away too, and that is sorely needed! NONE of this is in accord with Vatican II.

The chopping sent a signal to others (a bad interpretation) - that there is to be less reverence for God and more reverence for the mirror.

The St. Michael’s prayer was never a part of the Mass. It was piously added after the Mass was finished.

I think there are 2 issues going on. There is a group of people that would have you believe that Vatican II was completely wrong, which is heretical.

Then there was a group of people that took Vatican II as a license to completely water down the Mass. This is also wrong. Just because we are allowed to worship in our native tongue, does not mean that it is okay to receive Eucharist in a state of mortal sin, go to Church in inappropriate clothing, talk in the Church like it is social hour, etc.

As I mentioned earlier, this is the exception, not the norm.

This has nothing to do with Vatican II. With the addition of the vigil mass, many come here from work and do not have the time to change clothing. Others are just not brought up with the manners of old, ever since the 60’s that believed ugly and sloppy was good. That’s when long hair and hippy clothes came into vogue. It’s hard to change one’s perception into one that respects proper decorum out of respect.
