I’m British but have lived in Asia for the past 20 years. I moved to the Philippines permanently two years ago. I read about Mass attendences being quite low in Europe and the USA. Is that right?
Here attendences are high. My local church has 3 daily Masses weekdays and 10 Masses on a Sunday. At every Mass the Church is packed to overflowing.

I think as a percent of total population, yes attendance is low. I don’t know how this compares to the Phillipines.

But, in many places in the US you would not know this is the overall trend. In particular churches it can seem to be quite high, or at least the church is quite full. My old parish church (I just moved) seated 1800 people and had 8 masses per weekend, and they were full. But, that was only a fraction of the number of Catholics we know to be registerd in the parish.

That’s of course due to migration within the United States.

Hundreds of thousands of Americans have moved from the rust belt to the south in recent decades. Many of those migrants are Catholic.

In addition, hundreds of thousands more have migrated from Latin America, many illegally, and those folks are largely Catholic as well.

You have a good point. The Philippines has a population of 86 million and is 85% Catholic. I don’t have statistics but I would guess that a very high percentage of Catholics do attend Mass.
