A visiting faculty in my college has kept a compulsory 9 am to 2pm lecture on Sunday (3-02-19).Now, is it a violation of the third commandment, if I attend that lecture?

Lectures are intellectual work, not servile work.
You aren’t missing Mass because of it. I’m pretty sure there are evening Masses around.
