Of course, it would be objectively mortally sinful for a Catholic to attend a Protestant service instead of Mass … or to receive Communion at a Protestant service … or to attend a Protestant service if it would pose a danger to their faith. In a nutshell, I know we’re not supposed to participate in a Protestant service. But what constitutes participation? Communion, of course, but what else?

Btw, some traditionalist friends of mine claim that attending a Protestant service for any reason whatsoever is mortally sinful – even if it’s a wedding or funeral, and they cite quotes from past catechisms and popes have said to support what they say (sorry, I can’t think of any quotes off the top of my head).
At the moment you begin to enjoy it.

Enjoying a Protestant service is NOT a sin. Substituing it for a Mass IS. Taking Communion IS. It is not the 1930’s anymore, we are permitted to participate, but not at the expense of our own faith. Personally, I would rather not. But I have to. And I don’t hate it. That doesn’t make it a sin.
