Hello, on my campus there will be a speech given by a transgender about gender issues. I can get extra credit in a class that I really could use it in by attending, but I’m wondering if it would be wrong. Nothing he/she will say will sway me to believe trying to change gender is a good thing, so is it okay if I go to the talk and hear what is being said so I can get extra credit?

Haha, I wouldn’t think so, since you’re just going to go hear hir views. With more and more people coming out as TG these days I think it’s good to hear how they got there so you can better understand their side.

Go for it. School comes first. 🙂

If I may share: I remember having to write an essay on a certain issue, but instead of picking what I thought was right, I picked what was easier. 😉

Why would it be wrong? There is a lot of misunderstanding about this stuff. I am sure that there is just as much of the misunderstanding on the part of those who are transgendered as it is on the part of those who are not, but how can you get a feel for what these people go through if you don’t listen?

Maybe you will learn something there that will help you counsel another soul someday.

It could also be an opportunity to learn how to “love the sinner.” That can be a hard lesson for me. He/She is a child of God too.

Yes, amen. I mean, like it or not, there will always be homosexuals and, well, I guess nowadays, transgenders. I suppose to change a Jesus quote, “you will always have the differently sexually oriented.”

First gender is inner identity not sexual orientation. Second we were always there, we just are not going to hide anymore.
