So you pray the Rosary daily? Daily Mass? But are you earning plenary indulgences?

Earn these plenary indulgences for the poor souls in purgatory daily!

All the time.

Hoping to, but more likely they are partial indulgences

Nice Post EliRotello some of those means of obtaining I wasn’t fully aware of. Thanks.

Your welcome and prayers. Grabbing plenary indulgences doesn’t seem to be something we talk about.

Today’s I need for myself. Next time? I’ll empty purgatory.

Today I was approached by two ladies wanting to know more about indulgences because they heard me mention them to the Deacon. Which also has just received the Book of Indulgences because he said he had a hard time keeping up with me on them being so uneducated about them, hence the reason for the book! Lol. Little by little, I’m leading the charge at my itty bitty country mission church…Hopefully he will start to include the Indulgences to be gained that week in the bulletin and upcoming indulgences for liturgical seasons. We spoke about it briefly and he was very accepting of the idea.

I lead the rosary every Sunday morning before the Mass my husband and I attend and many of the congregation as they enter the church say the prayers. I watch the time so to end the rosary before Mass begins and always say “We’ll say an Our Father, Hail Mary and Glory Be for the intentions of Pope Francis and for the indulgence from saying this rosary to go to a soul in purgatory. Together…” and we pray. It’s lovely saying the Holy Rosary aloud before Mass in our church.
I would love to empty purgatory so with the grace of God we all can do that!

Yes, I try to get one for every Holy Communion I make, and give to the poor souls.
Also I try to get as many partial indulgences as I can for the poor souls.

Actually there’s been at least 5 threads on plenary indulgences on CAF just in the past week, to which I’ve been responding.
Indulgence threads also pop up fairly regularly. Usually in the “Spirituality” forum where we talk about devotions and prayers. Indulgence practice isn’t specifically part of “Traditional Catholicism” and in fact the current indulgence handbook in force was created post-Vatican II.

I’m not going to move your thread though, because you may reach a few more people by posting this here in the Traditional Catholicism forum, as some people don’t read the Spirituality forum.

Lots of people are interested in indulgence practice these days because some priests and authors have been promoting it.

As for “not talking about it”, those of us who try to get them generally don’t announce it every day because that would be like praying on the street corner so people could see.

God bless you for bringing it up again though - I personally think it’s a great practice to promote because it helps both the poor soul in Purgatory, and the person on earth who is doing the praying.
