Dear Brothers and Sisters,

On this third day in our journey toward Consecration (or renewing our Consecration to Jesus through Mary) we continue following the outline from “True Devotion” by St. Louis de Montfort. Seeking to rid ourselves of the spirit of the world which is opposed to the Spirit of Christ, let us hear these words deep within our hearts:
  1. Is it any wonder then that our Lord laid down that anyone who aspires to be His follower must deny himself and hate his very life? He makes it clear that anyone who loves his life shall lose it and anyone who hates his life shall save it. Now, our Lord, who is infinite Wisdom, and does not give commandments without a reason, bids us hate ourselves only because we richly deserve to be hated. Nothing is more worthy of love than God and nothing is more deserving of hatred than self.
It is so important to remember that Jesus knows our weakness due to the consequences of Original sin, and He knows how “disordered” our natural selves can be – we are prone to sin. Yet He also knows, for He is God, the wonderful Supernatural gifts we were given at Baptism and our call to be perfect as our heavenly Father is perfect.

St. Louis in these 12 preliminary days of preparation is urging us to strive for holiness and to hate whatever may be separating us from Spirit of Jesus Christ . As Jesus emptied Himself for love of us, on His cross, so He is calling us to follow Him.

Come Holy Spirit, enlighten our minds and hearts to “see” by faith, our call to holiness. Eternal Father into Your Hands we commend our spirit. Jesus, we trust in You. Mary, Mother of the Church, pray for us. St. Louis de Montfort, pray for us. St Edith Stein (Sister Teresa Benedicta of the Cross) martyr, pray for us.

Dear GioG12, and Greenfields,

Thank you both for your encouraging “hearts” which indicate to us, you liked what you read from St. Louis De Montfort’s Treatise on “True Devotion”. I hope you have read this little gem of a book, or are reading it, or will read it again, prayerfully asking God to help all of us to grow closer to Him by doing everything through, Mary, with Mary, in Mary and for Mary.

We thus honor Jesus who loves Mary now as He loved her on earth from childhood to manhood. How humble Jesus is – becoming like us in all things except sin, – that we might learn from Him to be Meek and Humble of Heart as He is! Jesus we trust in You! Mary, Mother of the Church, pray for us!

Dear properspider,

Thanks for your “heart” which enables me to encourage you in return! Hope you liked what St. Louis de Montfort wrote – so much that you want to hear more from his treatise on "True Devotion"! Just click on the title and you will have the online version you can read, if you have never read it before and are inclined now to read this spiritual Classic that has helped so many for centuries.

Pray to the Holy Spirit that He may enable you to hear with the “ears of your heart” and may you grow daily closer to Jesus through Mary! PLease let us pray for one another, for the Church and for all those in need of God’s Mercy given through Mary our Mother.
