Dear Brothers and Sisters,
On this third day in our journey toward Consecration (or renewing our Consecration to Jesus through Mary) we continue following the outline from “True Devotion” by St. Louis de Montfort. Seeking to rid ourselves of the spirit of the world which is opposed to the Spirit of Christ, let us hear these words deep within our hearts:
St. Louis in these 12 preliminary days of preparation is urging us to strive for holiness and to hate whatever may be separating us from Spirit of Jesus Christ . As Jesus emptied Himself for love of us, on His cross, so He is calling us to follow Him.
Come Holy Spirit, enlighten our minds and hearts to “see” by faith, our call to holiness. Eternal Father into Your Hands we commend our spirit. Jesus, we trust in You. Mary, Mother of the Church, pray for us. St. Louis de Montfort, pray for us. St Edith Stein (Sister Teresa Benedicta of the Cross) martyr, pray for us.

It is so important to remember that Jesus knows our weakness due to the consequences of Original sin, and He knows how “disordered” our natural selves can be – we are prone to sin. Yet He also knows, for He is God, the wonderful Supernatural gifts we were given at Baptism and our call to be perfect as our heavenly Father is perfect.
- Is it any wonder then that our Lord laid down that anyone who aspires to be His follower must deny himself and hate his very life? He makes it clear that anyone who loves his life shall lose it and anyone who hates his life shall save it. Now, our Lord, who is infinite Wisdom, and does not give commandments without a reason, bids us hate ourselves only because we richly deserve to be hated. Nothing is more worthy of love than God and nothing is more deserving of hatred than self.
