Authority of Scripture

Well, for one, he makes baseless assumptions about what the Chuch “allows” or doesn’t allow. Scripture is clear about the hierarchy and authority of the Church and the Pope, and Catholics are certainly allowed to read scripture to see this plain as day. He also asserts that Catholics are not allowed to read scripture in its original languages- also false.

I wouldn’t give this guy the time of day, personally. I’ve heard much more convincing Protestant arguments.

Was there something in particular he said that you would like a Catholic to address?
 
A bunch of rubbish. We are allowed to refer to scripture, we do translate the Bible from original languages. We do not teach sola scriptura, the point this site is all about. We do believe God has the most authority, but the church as authority and so does scripture. The church’s authority comes directly from scripture. Just another site to tell Catholics that they are going to hell because they don’t believe everything we believe.

OH, I’m Catholic and don’t buy into what this guy is saying, I just wanted some historical claims pointing out this guy’s fallacy.
