This is particularly prevalent in the UK, especially with girls.

There’s a poster on another public forum, from the UK, who got a sex change because they were obsessed with girls, and wanted to become a nun. Last I heard, they were wanting a Carmelite habit.

Their DNA still declares them the sex they were born as. Therefore, religious life is off limits. They can, however, either develop a Personal Prayer Rule, or develop a lay association of some kind.
