My son and I saw it on Friday, and I’m curious what other people think.

Spoilers ahead. You have been warned. 👵🚬

Overall, I liked the film.

I’m not crazy about the whole time travel thing, though I did like that they didn’t go back in time and undo everything.

OTOH, I find it difficult to believe that Peter Parker’s enter Academic Decathlon team cornflaked out and then returned five years later to continue high school together – and make the next Spiderman movie.

I also wonder about people who managed to get on with their lives in those five years, perhaps even marrying other people. And then – ta da! – “Honey, I’m home!” Yikes.

And what about people who just couldn’t take it and ended their own lives? When their loved ones return from something that took no time at all from their perspective, they’ll have to deal with that loss.

Yeah, it’s great they were somehow able to bring all those people back, but the consequences – after FIVE YEARS – would be seriously complicated.

I also wasn’t crazy about how all the corn-flaked people just suddenly showed up during the battle. A bit too much deus ex machina for me.

What were other people’s thoughts?

What did you think about the time travel? Bruce Banner Hulk? The characters they chose to kill off? – I haven’t cried this much at a movie since Schindler’s List (not that I’m comparing the gravitas of the two films). Thor’s malaise? The end of the final battle? Captain America and the hammer? The post credit anvil sound?

I’d love to hear what other liked and didn’t like. 😃

Someone told me at the end of the movie everyone died. Was I misled? 😒

Apparently I am the only one interested in this topic. Or perhaps there are a few movie nerds here, but they haven’t seen the movie yet. 🤔

Well, my son and I argued over characters and story device while we ate dinner, so I’m good. :+1:t4:

🍿 🍿 🍿

What was the argument about?

Since spoilers are ok on the thread, I thought it was super cool and somehow fitting that Captain America could wield Thor’s hammer.

Well, I am completely in love with Captain America, and I have always been convinced that he could wield Thor’s hammer. 😍

Everyone in our theater cheered when the hammer went flying to the good Captain.

I didn’t care for the whole Professor Hulk thing. My son says it’s a logical character arc.

And I know this is a superhero film, so not what you’d call a realistic story, but it felt like parts of the movie were filmed in a very realistic and three dimensional style. And then there was Professor Hulk and Dude Thor – cartoon characters thrown into a live-action feature. The film suddenly felt like Space Jam.

My hope is that future films (Spiderman: Far From Home) address the mess that occurs when people disappear for five years and then suddenly return. The movie shows Scott Lang walking through a neighborhood where trash bags are piled high on the curb. What else has happened? Imagine government leaders who cornflaked out suddenly reappearing to learn that they are no longer in power! 😅

Maybe Guardians 3 will include some ideas of how the rest of the universe experienced and dealt with the snaps?

Basically, my hope is that they don’t just gloss over the consequences of this mess. My son says I’m taking this all too seriously. 😯 😂
