When babies become commodities, they become disposable.

Of course, they’ve already become disposable through abortion. This simply reinforces the idea that a baby who does not meet expectations is disposable.

The world is truly in a horrible state today. I hope that this age of evil will come to an end and that people will return to having morals and Faith.

That is terrible. I wonder if the couple will ever tell their daughter about her twin brother and why he was left behind. 😦

Of course not - they obviously have no compassion, so why would they bother?

This is beyond saddening. I work with special needs children and adults and every one is God’s special angel. Down’s children are among the most delightful to interact with; they are kind, loving, and many are able to work and live in the community with the proper education and therapeutic treatment.

Shame on those parents. I will pray for them, Gammy, and the surrogate mom. :gopray2: On a happy note, a GoFundMe drive has raised over $200,000 for the mom and Gammy. Here’s a link to the CNN video and the fundraising drive:

I pray that Gammy shines like the bright star that he is, and that expectant parents with special needs children reverse their decision to abort. Life is life and its terms are not negotiable. :angel1:

So true and so incredibly sad.

Spartans would leave “weak” babies out in the woods to die because it was believed they would never become warriors. Lack of compassion is nothing new.

Does anyone have the article posted years ago by Ann Landers that was about the “perfect child?” The author was speaking about her daughter with Down’s.

Is this it?

*Heaven’s Very Special Child
A meeting was held quite far from Earth.
“It’s time again for another birth.”
Said the angels to the Lord above,
“This special child will need much love.
His progress may seem very slow.
Accomplishments he may not show
And he’ll require extra care
From the folks he meets way down there.
He may not run or laugh or play;
His thoughts may seem quite far away.
In many ways he won’t adapt
And he’ll be known as handicapped.
So let’s be careful where he’s sent,
We want his life to be content.
Please, Lord, find parents who
Will do a special job for You.
They will not realize right away
The leading role they’re asked to play
But with this child sent from above
Comes stronger faith and richer love.
And soon they’ll know the privilege given
In caring for this gift from Heaven.
Their precious charge, so meek and mild,
Is Heaven’s very special child.”

Surprisingly, this still goes on today, in India for one, and Im sure there are other places as well. I watched a special about a girl who was born deformed, and the entire town thought the parents should have left the baby out in this field to die, but they choose to keep and raise it.

Im really surprised this sort of thing isnt legal in the US, seeing how we treat the unborn and less than perfect to begin with.

Thank you so much for posting the “silver lining” to this horrible occurrence. I did not know about this and it sure makes me feel better and somewhat restores my faith in humanity.

You’re welcome! The fundraising drive has brought in over $240,000 so far. I wonder how those “parents” feel now? Not that they could have used this as an opportunity to make money, but that there has been such an outpouring of support for the mom and Gammy. Of course, the parents have a different story, but here’s a CNN video that shows the mom’s side:

I will keep them in my prayers. It seems that my list of those whom I pray for keeps getting longer…:signofcross:

I don’t mind at all. Since I became Catholic on July 20th, I’ve joined my parish Rosary Altar Society, the Dominican Rosary Confraternity, and my dream is to become the Johnny Appleseed of rosaries! I am already a skilled beader, I want to make them and leave them in my church vestibule and donate them to rosary missions and the troops. Please pray that I may accomplish this, thank you! :flowers:

I just asked God to bless your efforts and I’m sure He will. 👍

Well, it turns out that the couple who have taken the little girl granted an interview on the Aussie version of 60 Minutes, and the dad turns out to be a convicted sex offender for abusing young girls and did prison time:

I feel sick about this, and will pray for both children to remain safe, because it’s a case of “we said, they said.” :gopray2:
The video is worth watching as it provides another perspective on the story. God knows what the truth is.
