Since “Babylon the Great” is either Imperial Rome in the first century AD, or Jerusalem, also in the first century, or a fusion of the two - the answer is, “no need to” 🙂​

Though I do :hmmm: not presume to read minds, I do not;) think that it was the Word of God to whom the post was addressed…

No … I’ll go with Gottle of Geer: this referred to Jerusalem, Rome, or both.

The question reminds me of a time a few years ago when some Jehovah’s Witnesses came to my door and started sharing their faith with me. I asked them, “Who is the woman clothed with the sun in the Book of Revelation? Is she not Mary, Mother of God?” (We have a small Mary statue in our front yard.) The JW started to explain that the Book of Revelation has a lot of symbolism in it, that we shouldn’t take it too literally, and the like. I replied, “This is quite something, a Jehovah’s Witness telling a Roman Catholic not to take the Bible so literally.”
