Hi

In his latest internet newsletter - ENDTIME ISSUES No. 127: “The Legacy of Pope John Paul II” - Seventh-day Adventist Professor Samuele Bacchiocchi states: “It is evident that the popular acclamation of the Pope as “Vicar of Christ” and “God on earth,” does not exempt him from the frailty of old age.”

Here is a detailed look at the anti-Catholic claims regarding these allegations - The Anti-Catholic “Pope as God” Argument - web.archive.org/web/20011005222445/http://ic.net/~erasmus/RAZ342.HTM

Why do anti-Catholics have to attack the Catholic Church in order to effectively promote their own beliefs?

God bless,
Stephen

Who ever claimed being “Vicar of Christ” exempted you from the frailty of old age? Does this guy actually believe that we all think the Pope is immortal? Does he think we just forgot about the fact that 264 other popes have died?

by the way the Pope had a cafe latte’ and biscuits for breakfast this morning. How do you doubt the power of prayer! Go John Paul II!!!

I shall be a defender of Mary.

That’s fast … I heard he had a tracheostomy yesterday. I wonder if he’ll be able to talk well after that.

As for Bacchiocchi, his anti-Catholic snipes have been increasing for some time, and it looks like he’s got a few more prepared. I wish some more apologists would take him on more regularly.

God bless,
Stephen

Apparently he’s under doctor’s orders not to attempt to speak for several days, just fyi.

I’ve never heard the Pope’s title of “God on earth.”

If only I had known this earlier…

Indeed. This shows how necessary it is for attackers of the Church to make up nonsensical claims. I have never heard a devout Catholic claim the Pope is “God on earth.”

How does the present and future influence of the papacy fits into the prophetic scenario of our Seventh-day Adventist Church?
Considering they predict every Pope is the anti-christ and well set out of to destroy the true church err the 7th day adventist church.
The predictions on the next pope will be more of the same just as lame as their many false end time predictions.
God on earth? Which document does the Pope claim this?
It’s pathetic when they create a straw man for their arguments.

His mocking of the Popes suffering is similar to the mocking of Christ during his Passion. Something to think about.

He has already slammed the Passion by Mel Gibson as being Catholic propaganda. One of his pontifications on the subject:

Mel Gibson’s Slaughter Of Christ

Let not you heart worry. Be at rest. For the very few members of the Seventh Day Adventists to lash out at the Holy Mother Church is akin to a kitten attacking an adult elephant by hitting a leg with it’s tail.

Seventh Day Adventists also claim there is a Catholic plot to make it illegal to go to church on Saturday.

I always tell them the truth – when we take over the Shakers won’t be allowed to shake, the Quakers won’t be allowed to quake, and the 'Piscopalians are just gonna have to hold their water.http://forums.catholic-questions.org/images/icons/icon10.gif
