Howdy wonderful CAF peeps! I’m back again!
My apologies for being away so long…Shuffles feet guiltily Things got super busy! I knew it was time to come back though, when someone messaged me saying, “Are you still alive?”
I’m definitely alive! But I do actually have pneumonia right now, so any prayers would be appreciated for a speedy recovery~ gah, my chest feels like I have a big ol’ elephant sitting on it, (Which is kinda a hilarious mental image heehee)
Anywhoo! ~
So, I met with Father on the 27th last month- and let me tell ya, there was never a more joyful moment than when I entered that office building and waved like a crazy girl at the fella standing atop the stairs. -And then, of course, shyness kicks in, and my minnie-mouse voice gets even higher as I follow 'im along to his office, rambling about how I managed not to set anything on fire this year’s Thanksgiving-
(It involved candles and curtains, in case you’re curious).
(At least he laughed!) But here I was, and I just couldn’t help myself (This is so silly) I kept staring at his collar. (Is it called an alb?) I mean, well, he’s the first priest I’ve actually met (And technically this is our second meeting) and I am so fascinated by all things Catholic!
Anywhoo, so we sat down, with me trying to compose myself and remember what the heck I was gonna ask him. He was cool as a cucumber the whole time and just sat there patient, with the most serene smile on his face.
And then I’m all like Oh yeah! I brought a notebook!
And so I asked him my questions!
He was very kind and welcoming, of course, with his answers, and in the process, I feel like I’ve learned a lot! (YAY)
And he also showed me where the RCIA class was, asked to give my number to the RCIA director, etc.
Like the last time, I felt comforted, after visiting the church grounds, and a little sad after leaving (And of course that’s where the doubts start to kick in again; such as “oh, what if this isn’t the right thing to do?”)
I feel like I’ve come a ways, though. I was prompted to look into Catholicism (As a way to combat evil) around a year ago, when I was visiting my grandparents home and I found my mother’s…grimoire…(Or witch’s book of spells) in the attic. Now, I’d always heard of the bad luck that has run in the maternal side of my family (Which thankfully, I haven’t really seemed to have had to deal with), and I knew that my mother had used ouija boards, but I did not know until that moment that she had practiced witchcraft.
And that…is what first drew me to Catholicism…
You guys don’t shy away from the truth that evil exists.
You guys talk about how to fight back against the darkness. How to combat it with prayer, etc.
Anywhoo~ I’ll post about my meeting with the RCIA director, soon! Thank you all again, for your kindness and support!
