Back from Easter Vigil

If you were Baptized at the Easter Vigil you were given a white garment (of some type) after Baptism as part of the Baptismal Rite. If you were already Baptized you wore some white garment, symbolic of having gone to Reconciliation in preparation for the reception of Confirmation and Holy Eucharist. You should wear these white garments to Mass for the next 8 Sundays.

This period of RCIA is known as Mystagogy. In RCIA you will explore the Rites of the Easter Vigil more deeply and also the Sacraments received. Mystagogy is also a transition to membership and incorporation in the parish community.

I wore the white garment at Easter Vigil. I wasn’t aware that I had to wear it again. :confused:

It is common for those received and Baptized into the Church at the Easter Vigil to wear their white garment for all the Sundays of the Easter season.

Corrine said I didn’t have to and Fr. Frank said nothing about me wearing it. He’s a Franciscan.

Wow was it crowded today! :eek: They had the smaller chapel filled and even had to put seats in the gathering space to accommodate about fifty or sixty people.

I met a couple of nice people. One was visiting from Eau Claire (?), Wisconsin.

It was crowded because of the attendance of CEO Catholics-Christmas Easter Only! -🙂
 
Love the Easter Vigil! I went last night w/o children and then this morning with children.

I want to. Give me a couple of years to become more knowledgeable — more Catholic, if you will — and I think I’d be fit to be a sponsor.

I suppose no one is going to make you, however as I said it is common practice. Here we give white sashes and they keep them. All the RCIA people form all the prior years wear them to the Easter Vigil. It’s interesting to see all the white sashes among the large crowd. It reminds us of the Scripture passage telling us to remember to bring our white garment to the wedding banquet.

:eek: I have never seen this before. 😦 I wish our parish did this. I’ll mention it the next time I talk to someone involved with RCIA.

***Congratulations to you!

Actually, we renew our vows when we recite the Creed every Sunday, and partake of the Eucharist…this was something our parish priest said at our Vigil. I thought, how beautiful is that…so, you are on an awesome journey in faith…that will continue to renew every week. God bless, and welcome to the faith!! 🙂
