It was an interesting journey, I was not disappointed, but, I will be glad to
talk about the daily readings tomorrow. Why is everything grey here? I
liked it yellow, it was happy.
I have a question for Jesus, even after all these years: Why did You have to die
like this? It does hurt badly to have to think of it, and dwell on it. Now after all the
suffering You put us through, who did Your terrifying death save? The disciples all
loved You, Mary Martha and Lazarus loved You, the people You fed with the loaves
and fishes stayed listening to You talk for 3 days even though they were out of food.
They asked You, “what must we do to do the work of God?” I ask that question too.
But all You said was, “to believe in the One whom He has sent, Jesus Christ”.
As You were led to Your death, You told crying women not to cry for You. Surely
they, too, loved you. You saved one thief on the cross, but what about the other one? Did Your death save him? Did it save any of the soldiers who killed You? What about Annas or Ciaphus or Pontius Pilate? If You say Yes it saved the centurion, that will
be good enough for me. Did it save any in the crowd who shouted “crucify Him!” and “Let His blood be on us and on our children!” Did Your death save the rich young man who went away sad? My point is this, dear Lord: the ones who loved You already loved You before Your terrible death. The people of goodwill already wanted to do right and live right. The ones who love evil appear to be untouched by Your death, yesterday, today, and forever. It was Your life that brought teaching and healing. Your life that gave us an example. Your life that showed us love and the personality of God. Please tell me: has Your death saved even one evil person? I’m not talking about me. Is there anyone who has changed their mind from evil to good because of Your death and not
Your life?
Yes the death of Jesus remains a mystery, as does the death of the many
innocent today. And yes, I trust Him, because it’s all I can do.
See you tomorrow (God willing) to talk about the daily readings. Happy Easter!!!
