I think the catholic League is complaining mainly to show the hypocrisy of the newspaper-apologizing to homosexuals for a innocuous cartoon and stating that the religious are fair game. Personally i don’t think they owe anyone an apology. the reason the cartoons are sophomoric is that they were probably produced by sophmores…

I will say that the Catholic Church is the brunt of jokes these days. In my grandma and grandpa’s days that was unheard of.

It wasnt jokes they were worried about in those days-it was outright hostility. i can recall when traveling in the deep South in the lates 1950s my father taking the St Christopher Statue off our dashboard becuase of the snide comments and ruedeness we were getting when we got gas.

I see. Was a lot of this outright bigotry related to how many protestants thought that the catholic church was the whore of babylon? It seems to me that it’s turned from outright hostility to having our faith made fun of. What do you think?

Our common goal on many social issues have bought catholics and fundamentalist Christians a lot closer over the years. the bigotry and hostility(which often takes the form of jokes about our Church) come mianly form secluar sources now days.

Yes. And many of them are Christians in name only, both Protestant and Catholic.
 
The reason the “sensitivity” goes only to those whom the students think deserve it is because they view gays and other certain groups as “oppressed” and Christians/Catholics as the “oppressors.” And from the skewed history they are taught by their professors towards any group that defies Church teaching it’s hardly surprising. Sad, but not surprising.

Yes, that is exactly right. And part of the skewed history they are taught is that the Church turned a blind eye during WW II.

Along with a lot of other nonsensical things that have no basis in history or reason but only in their own biases. 😦

Yeah, and their Darwinistic theories which say that we are a bunch of animals and that we can’t control “our sexual desires.”
 
I bet if they made the mistake of saying something about Islam they would apologize immediately - or they’d never make the mistake.

Anti Christian stuff like this occurs and they say its no big deal?

It’s no big deal my foot.
 
I would love to see the reaction if they dared to publish one of the mohammed cartoons.
