By the title I hoped to bring attention to what is going on in the world today. The Romans created the excitement of the Coliseum to mis-direct the minds of its citizens so that they would not concern themselves with the real problems in their society.

Today we have, cigarette smoking, health concerns, environment, rumors of wars, sports, gambling, lotteries, news, terrorists etc. We have drugs, alcohol, sexual immorality and now they are opening up new despotism like same sex marriage, abortion, euthanasia, ivf and a myriad of other distractions to keep us from examining what is really going on.

We are so caught up in either one side or the other for example rcia, pray meetings, love your neighbor, give to orphans, give to lepers, give to widows. As good works as these are, they are distractions from recognizing what is really going on. The war told to us by St Paul and by most of the saints through the 2000 years and today by exponents like Father Corapi. The war has battles won and lost and today we have begun the biggest nastiest war of all time. Because it is the last war.

We must recognize what we can do and how we can fight this war if we are to win. First we need soldiers. The catholic people on earth are referred to as the Church Militant we are the army. Second we need weapons. Well in my experience there are a few terrific weapons at our disposal.

First devotion to Our Blessed Lord in the Most Holy Sacrament of the Altar. Holy Communion. But the effective use of this weapon is reserved for those best disposed for its operation in their soul. We must become innocent and pure of heart for this weapon to be devastating to the enemy.

Second devotion to Our Blessed Mother. For many saints this devotion has best been used as a weapon by the recitation of the Most Holy Rosary. The effectiveness of the Rosary is tied to the disposition of the mind and will of the soldier. First, knowledge of the mysteries and the events and words used by witnesses to the mysteries. Then you must apply your knowledge and meditative power of each mystery to turn your recitation into thunderous cannon.

Each individual will be uniquely drawn to the weapon reserved for them by God. It will be unveiled to them in prayer and the devotions that attract them. Once we use these weapons effectively we will become holy. This process is called mystical or spiritual asceticism. The holier we become the greater the grace poured out on society around us, and God retakes the world. If we partake in sin regularly we never permit these graces to abound, so we are totally ineffectual.

There are soldiers, corporals, sergeants, Lt., Captains etc even in God’s army. Only they don’t sit at the back of the lines and direct the soldiers. They are prepared to fight up front with weapons so great that the devils dread their very existence and attack them from childhood. We must trust in God that the right people get the right weapons and ranks.

We do not need to get caught up worrying about the sin around us we can do something about it. Become Holy.

It is always God’s Will for us to become Holy. When we do become Holy then it is God’s Will for us to become More Holy. Then He Wills for us to become even More Holy. etc.

If we concentrate on this we will easily win the battle. If we continue, as a church, turning our attention to all the garbage that is set up to distract us from our main mission, we will fail God, our fellow Catholics, humanity and ourselves.

Could not have said it any better myself!! 👍

This is exactly what I needed to read. Lately, much too much of my time has been spent getting all riled up over things I read/see in the news or blogs. Honestly, it is starting to get out of hand with me, and I find myself concerned more with the outrageous behavior and opinions of others than I am with my own affairs. It is definitely time for a major media fast.

Thank you so very much for this post. It is so true.
