What and when is a ‘bad situation’?

I had a priest tell me that a couple hours was the most any guy and girl in a relationship could spend alone together without it being a ‘bad situation’.

I am doubting if this is correct.

A few minutes could be a bad situation to spend alone together if there is a thought of evil being done.

On the other hand, if you’re alone with a girl (or boy for the girls) for several hours but don’t feel like doing anything sexual or evil, would that be a bad situation?

What do you think?

The idea is you don’t want to put your self in a situation where you may be tempted to do evil. This varies from person to person. It’s not a bad situation for guy to be with a girl for several hours as long as neither one is tempted to do evil. Sometimes people are tempted to do evil in as little as a minute. Just use common sense and if you find yourself in a bad situation, get out of there

I think it depends on the people involved.
Now, that is just from my experience.

I could spend all day with my boyfriend, alone, and we’d be fine. Actually, we could spend all night, too. Definitely not “together” like cuddling or anything (he would NOT stand for that), but, if we happened to be stranded somewhere or something, we’d be fine…

There would be no ‘temptations.’

I think whether something is a “bad situation” depends entirely on whether you are tempted or not. Not to invite temptation – but if you tend to hang out for a few hours without being tempted already, then I don’t see the need to change.

A lot depends on the circumstances. Sitting and watching Batman (or whatever) with a friend or roommate in the next room is not at all a bad situation. Sitting and smooching while you’re alone in the house for hours probably is. You have to weigh what is going to end up being tempting for you.

I live in an apartment with another girl, so it is fairly simple to hang around my place with my fiance, knowing that she’s in and out of there all the time. But if she’s gone for the whole day, we usually go out in public or hang out with some of my fiance’s friends. Being in an apartment alone together all day, especially if we don’t have any particular activity we’re doing, just seems like a possible “bad situation” to me. Same for being in the bedroom instead of the living room.

However, once we were at his family’s house, and we hung around in the guest bedroom where I was staying, working on a puzzle. We left the door wide open, and his younger siblings were passing by, popping in and saying hello, whatever. His mom thought that was a “bad situation” – but I strongly disagree. We were in a place that was not going to present any temptation to either of us, so it was not a problem.
