Hi, one of the priest at the parish I attend has only been having the congregation renewing our baptismal promises after the homily, and never does the Nicene Creed. I have some youth questioning if this is right, since all of other priest in the parish typically does the Nicene Creed, and only does the renewal of baptismal promises during special Masses. Any insights is appreciated!

There are certain situations in which this is acceptable, according to the rubrics.

Are you saying that, every week, every Mass, he’s doing this? Or perhaps, that he does this when there’s a baptism during Mass? Or, occasionally through the Easter season?

Yes, every Mass that has been celebrated by him, it’s always been the baptismal promises. And it’s your standard ordinary time Sunday Mass, so there’s no baptism during Mass. Before Lent, during Lent, and currently now.

****we are still in Easter until the Pentecost…we do the Apostles Creed until then, which is sort of like the batsimal vows.

Why don’t you ASK him? I’m sure he has a reason…

It’s typically done during the Season of Easter. Also a sprinkling Rite.
Relax.

He’s been doing it every Mass I’ve been too for the last year. I am very much relax, I was just asking for thoughts. Thank you.
