I am just getting confused about the teaching of the Catholic Charismatic groups about Baptism in the Holy Spirit…
The Church teaches that there is one baptism and that is “water and Holy Spirit” baptism that most of the Catholics receive nowadays when we are infant…
but the Charismatic groups are teaching that there is a baptism in the Holy Spirit…
very similar to the Pentecostal teaching…the only difference is that the Pentecostals believe that speaking in tongues is the initial evidence of the baptism while the Charismatics do not.
I heard this teaching when I attended Catholic Life in the Spirit Seminar…
Is it approved by the Church? Does it contradict the Church’s teaching about baptism?
