I became a christian after my children were born and did not baptize them becuase ifelt it would be hypocritical. I have started attending a catholic church, my husband was raised catholic and has started attending with me. I want to have my children baptized catholic but (ages 7 and 4) but do not know any catholics to ask as god parents. I feel very strong that they have a strong faith in catholicism. I plan on converting myself. How do I fing God parents, what are the rules regarding them?

You should begin the process anyway by speaking with your parish secretary and getting the ball rolling. I too have a problem with this somewhat being I’m the only Catholic other than my sister who lives very far from me.
You can have one baptised Christian and one Catholic if you can’t find a Catholic couple. As for finding that one Catholic person, do you know anyone in your parish?

Check with the parish priest and tell him you would like to have someone serve as a mentor couple/family as you investigate this process. I’m sure anyone the priest tapped for the job not only would be honored to help, but would be great examples of a Catholic family.

There are all sorts of stray sponsors and potential godparents lying about the average parish! Just ask the priest and he will produce one, I guarantee it.👋

Usually the potential sponsor is at least sixteen years old. If there are two sponsors, they are opposite sex. They should already be confirmed and lead a life in accord with the Church.

First thing is to get yourself into the RCIA program so you too can be baptized. While in the RCIA class you will be able to find many potential godparents. Get involved with ministries at your parish, there are a lot of potential GP’s out there. Good luck and God Bless you and your family. 👍
