I’ve never seen The View, (in fact, we don’t have TV) but I think many of you have based on other threads.
I am anxious to find out if Barbara Walters treats Michael Richards’ racist comments with the same outrage she treated Mel Gibson. And, Michael Richards was sober!

Baba Wawa wasn’t in today. They had an African-American woman guest-hosting in her place (Shari something-or-other, I don’t exactly remember her name.) Both Shari and Elizabeth thought Michael Richards’ rant was much worse than Mel Gibson’s, particularly since all the accounts of Gibson’s rant are second-hand, whereas you actually can see video of Michael Richards doing his act. Rosie was just glad he apologized rather than saying “I was drunk and now going into rehab”. Joy thought that Gibson’s was still worse because of the power differential. By her reasoning, Michael Richards is a nobody anyway, whereas Mel Gibson is a huge box-office star (both as an actor and a filmmaker) who has the power to make “highly anti-Semitic” movies that can be seen the world over. The ability of Mel Gibson to reach a much wider audience makes him, in Joy’s eyes, “more dangerous” than Kramer.

The highlight of the show was an offhand remark Rosie made about Kelly Ripa. Apparently, Clay Aiken was filling in for Regis when he put his hand over Kelly’s mouth to get her to stop talking. Kelly chided him,“Don’t do that. I don’t know where that hand has been!” Rosie thought Kelly’s remark was homophobic.

Here’s where it gets good…

Turns out Kelly Ripa was watching The View! About five minutes later she calls into the show and rips Rosie over her accusation of homophobia! If anything, Kelly Ripa is germ-phobic and was worried about how many hands Clay Aiken had shaken before the show during the height of cold and flu season. Kelly really resented Rosie implying that she was homophobic on national television. Rosie was visibly upset that Kelly called her on her comment.

It was beautiful. 😃 👍

You’ll probably read about a Rosie-Kelly feud in the celeb rags in the next few days.

Since Rosie has joined the show I have refused to watch. She makes me ill. Not that I liked Star Jones any better, but at least she was -----reserving comment because I can’t say anything nice----.

i refuse to watch because those women represent everthing that is wrong with society. i would rather watch a comedy routine that has racial jokes for all walks of life, see i hate bigotry and wouldn’t want anyone left out 🙂 😛

Well, Rosie’s remark sure shoved Clay right on out of the “closet”.
That’s if he wasn’t already out. Or even in, for that matter! I don’t know. I don’t pay much attention to any of these people.
That RO’D is a real piece of work.

I have seen this program once while I was getting a hair cut. What a classless waste. There are so many wonderful programs on TV. Why waste one’s time watching drivel.(?)
