Hmmm
Seems Mr Cameron is jumping on the Da Vinci code band wagon…
We all know that Jesus rose from the dead and decended into heaven and is now seated at the right hand of the Father.
So its a bit hard for his bones to remain here on earth…

I think it’s pretty incredible.

If it is the tomb of Christ and His family, the Gospels must inaccurately portray Him as poor. The tomb bears the marks of a middle income family, something a poor family of carpenters could never afford.

Perhaps even more incredible, Christ and His family must have relocated from Galilee to Judea, taking Joseph and other family members who predeceased Christ with them so they could all be buried in the same tomb in Jerusalem. Or, the Gospels must inaccurately portray Christ as a Galilean.

More incredible still, Christ’s family members must have gotten over the fact that He was crucified, and hence, impure from a Jewish perspective. Remember, one of the reasons the Gospels portray Christ as being buried in a new tomb that no one else had been buried in was because a crucified man – someone who was accursed – would have defiled the grave of the other decedents.

And most incredible of all, Christ must have changed His name from Jesus to Hunan because it appears that the name on the ossuary reflects the latter rather than the former.

Nevertheless, I’m sure it will sell lots of movies and books and some of the weaker in the Faith will jump ship.

This will die down after a couple months. Disproving Christianity is all the rage today, I suppose since it’s safer then trying to disprove Islam, as various smoking craters in the ground can tell you.

I shall pray for the conversion of Mr. Cameron :gopray:

It is sad how the modernists/secularists feel that they have to target Jesus and His Divinity…it seems like attacking the Church is no longer enough for these people. I think this shows the devil’s hand in all of this.

We know this claim is completely false and absurd. I have a feeling this is more about money than about anything else.

I recall reading somewhere (I think it may have been an Orthodx priest or monk who wrote it) that the way you can tell the difference between truth and error is that error is embraced by the world. Hence the attacks on Christianity in general, and Catholicism in particular.

I really look forward to the day this world stops trying to discredit Jesus and accept him as he is and embrace the love he has for all of us.
This world is so easily corrupted and peoples views are easily distorted these days more so than ever.
Anyway, a man that writes a movie with an old lady throwing a rare blue diamond off the back of the boat is just plain crazy anyway. 😛
I will forgive Mr Cameron for this however, since he did make a brilliant movie call aliens…
But i will pray for the conversion of him.

I totally agree. I will pray for Cameron’s conversion as well.

It is possible it is a 1st century tomb however just because its first century doesn’t make it legitimate, the idea of a forgery isn’t new. sadly.

More then Cameron you need to pray for those that might be persuaded by such a weak argument.

You’re exactly right. BTW, when I first glanced at your name, I thought it said “James Cameron!”😃

I apologize if this has already been posted, but Discovery Channel airs this heresy this coming Sunday night:

Feb. 25, 2007 — New scientific evidence, including DNA analysis conducted at one of the world’s foremost molecular genetics laboratories, as well as studies by leading scholars, suggests a 2,000-year-old Jerusalem tomb could have once held the remains of Jesus of Nazareth and his family. The findings also suggest that Jesus and Mary Magdalene might have produced a son named Judah.
The DNA findings, alongside statistical conclusions made about the artifacts — originally excavated in 1980 — open a potentially significant chapter in Biblical archaeological history.
A documentary presenting the evidence, “The Lost Tomb of Jesus,” will premiere on the Discovery Channel on March 4 at 9 p.m. ET/PT. The documentary comes from executive producer James Cameron and director Simcha Jacobovici.

As you all probably know, there are several threads related to this issue. One poster (JohnnyK) provided the link for writing comments to the Discovery Channel:

extweb.discovery.com/viewerrelations

I wrote to them this morning. As I said in the other thread, this is a practical way to address the issue.
