Ok here goes! A thought occured to me tonight, I discussed it with my Fiance and she dont know either…
Before my first Marriage my then ( this bugs me to say) fiance
was diagnosed with endometriosis which is a bleeding of the outer uterine walls, the normal 1st step in treatment at least at that time ( 1986) was to prescribe birth control pills.
well being she was already on them at the time she was prescribed a drug called danocrine which actually stopped her cycles she had to take these till about 1 month before we were married,
the after effects of this pill was supposed to be she couldnt according to our DR “possibly” concieve for at least a year.
which proved to be WRONG 4 months later we were expecting
But anyways my question is assuming a 100% practicing Catholic girl was diagnosed with this, the first 2 options
one being a Birth Control pill and the other a total stoppage of reproductive cycles, would they be allowed to use these pills for that reason. Now i am not sure about todays treatments, but the next option was a hysterectomy,
which would mean total permanent sterilization, now relize this particular case was found because of constant severe pain.
what would be the churches view now? its a BC pill but not being used for its purpose
I am very confused
Thanks for any help
John
