No thanks. “Be a man” is a typical insult, mainly used by women, but sometimes by other men as well (often themselves manipulated by women), to manipulate us into behaving as they would like. And I don’t care a fig’s leaf whether anyone thinks I’m a “real man” or not; I, and no one else, am going to define what being a man means for me, thank you very much.

👍 I agree

Although I would personally claim that manhood is fully revealed in Christ.

That’s all fine and dandy…so what does being a man mean to you?

I have to agree. The priest in the video is a “real woman’s priest”.

Being a “Man” is being the firmness of not only knowing what you truly want, but truly knowing why you want it. It is being rational, not merely wanty. It is having reasons for what you do that are more than merely habit or desire.

Such brings the power to make decisions that are strong and not easily swayed. It brings the power to persist and accomplish. It brings the power to overcome and create.

Man is made after the pattern of God (“in the image”). And thus being of that same pattern, sharing in God’s power.

But there are degrees of manhood as with all things. Being merely stubborn might be called “being a man”, but that is a low level of manhood. Being ever alert to what is and constantly ready to quickly “upgrade” or update his stance (humility), is a higher level. Seeking to be truly accurate and not acting until more certain, raises the manhood even more. At the highest level, a Man does nothing without success.
