In the Crusades, the knights fought with swords; I ask you to fight with prayer.
In the Crusades, the knights fought with shields; I ask you to fight with faith.
In the Crusades, the knights fought with armor; I ask you to fight with virtues.
Wage a crusade against the evil spirits, against all evil, and for the greater glory of God!
In your spiritual travels you will come against bitter darkness and invisible traps; you will ascend mountains to glory and run fast down into valleys of despair; you will go together with your friend and guardian, God’s angel, and on your travel you will meet many saints and angels, who shall help you by lending you their own swords and own armor, which are the prayers of the blessed and the various devotions to them; always by your side, and above you, and under you, and before you, and behind you, and within you, working through, with, and in you, is your Lord and God, whose Omnipotence is enough to sustain and to help you; and you will come up against many devils, many spirits, many dragons, many monsters. It is a perilous travel, one you may not survive, but if you but do what a knight dose and do not give into temptation, you will succeed and will receive from the King an eternal crown, and treasure beyond your imagination, and you will take your place among the blessed. But you must not crusade as a mercenary! You must rather crusade as the King’s son, fighting for His glory and keeping yourself in His love, for this is what a knightly son dose! Be a Crusader of Mercy!
