I just can’t believe this. If you don’t want sugary drinks buy a diet coke!!! Why do i have to suffer because some heath guru said fizzy drinks are bad?

I use to love Lucazade, but now it’s destroyed. It tastes disgusting. I’m surprised they are still in business.

I’d like to see coca cola pull a move like that!!

Are you in the UK? That’s the only place I’ve ever seen a sugar tax on beverages.

When I went to grab some dinner in a chain restaurant I will not name, the Coke was slightly more expensive than all of the other soft drinks…because everything else was either unsweetened, sugar-free or sugar-reduced with the difference in sweetness made up of artificial sweeteners or stevia. But, IIRC the artificial sweeteners used are either acesulfame potassium (Ace-K) or sucralose. I didn’t think anyone used aspartame in prepared drinks anymore, at least not in Europe. 🤨

Coke was the only choice exclusively using sugar as a sweetener (and rather a lot of it). So many people like Coke, however, that I imagine they’re willing to pay the surcharge so I doubt Coca-Cola will change the recipe.

For the record, I avoided all that and drank sparkling water 😇

Stevia would be a healthier alternative, but the taste takes a little while to get used to :thinking:Not sure what that would taste like in coke,I usually don’t drink fizzy drinks(soft drink)

Coca-Cola came out with a sugar-reduced version of Coke called Coca-Cola Life. The sugar they removed from the original formula was replaced with stevia. It was all the rage around here for a while. I liked it. The novelty wore off after a while, though. I don’t think it’s even sold in France (or anywhere in Europe) anymore.

Philadelphia’s “soda tax” includes all non alcoholic beverages that contain a sweetener as an ingredient. it does not matter if it is a zero calorie sweetener, its taxed all the same.

The sugar tax is to collect budget money. Like the cigarettes tax. They will never be outlawed, just another reason to get more money out of it.

Stevia is not artificial, but it does have a slight aftertaste that some find off-putting.

Unless I’m mistaken, Seattle has one, but they were really selective in it. Starbucks isn’t taxed, for instance, and you can probably guess why that is.

I absolutely love Coca-Cola Life! It’s easily my favorite variant of Coca-Cola, but it is so hard to find anymore. 😿

They used to have it at work, but I stopped drinking it for Lent as part of not drinking any soda. After Lent, I found out that it was no longer in stock, making me wonder if I was the one keeping demand for it in my building. 😳

And yet they still cry poor-mouth when it comes to funding the schools…

…but that’s a separate rant…

I hate aspartame too. This replacing sugar with sweeteners is no different than replacing butter and lard with margarine and vegetable oils back in the 1970s.

Now people know that margarine and processed vegetable oils are unhealthy, hopefully people will know how bad aspartame is.

Welp…this and more like it is what you will get if the liberals have their way.

As far as Coca Cola Life I never tried it but I saw a commercial for that product that had a pro life message as part of it so I wonder if they didn’t get threatened with being thrown into re-education camp by the liberals with the result being bye bye Coca Cola Life…?

Ecoli feces? Great.

Can i have some ecoli feces in my fizzy drink please
