Becoming a monastic, but few oriental monasteries it seems? It makes me wish I was Syrian or Coptic Orthodox

If one has interest in authentic oriental monasticism, what is he to do? If interest is to be in Wadi El Natrun, there are no Coptic Catholic monasteries. Unfortunate as Egypt is birthplace of monasticism. In Syria, I am not sure. Can someone point me to this?

I wish I was allowed in a Syriac Orthodox so I could be in monastery in Syria.

Or even Georgian Orthodox, though not as interested in Eastern orthodox tradition as much as Oriental orthodox, like the last stylite: huffingtonpost.com/2013/09/19/katskhi-pillar-monk-georgia-maxime-qavtaradze_n_3950192.html

Can someone point me to a Syriac or Alexandrian monastery where a Syro-malabar Catholic would be allowed? I can speak Malayalam and arabic and english. Thanks

Please don’t abandon our Mesopotamian tradition, for the Alexandrian or Syrian ones. Our patrimony is not found within oriental orthodoxy; we developed distinctly further east.

I can understand your desires as I’ve felt the same way myself, but I pray that you learn more about our own heritage. As the Second Vatican Council taught “All members of the Eastern Rite should know and be convinced that they can and should always preserve their legitimate liturgical rite and their established way of life.”

Are you currently in the US? Very cool that you know Arabic. I’m guessing you grew up somewhere in the Gulf. Have you spoken to anyone within Chicago Eparchy about your discernment… like Fr. Vinod?I hope you’re involved with DYA to some extent. Definitely lots of very enthusiastic and interesting people to meet. If there are enough like-minded people, no reason we can’t create a new Mt. Izla in America.

I posted this a few weeks ago in another [thread=972225]thread[/thread], but I guess it wouldn’t hurt to repeat it here. 🙂
I suppose it’s worth noting here that the Chaldean Church has a monastic presence within the Eparchy of St Peter the Apostle. kaldu.org/monasteries-seminaries-and-convents/
What their observance is I don’t know, but at least the link is a start. 🙂

The Maronites have a couple of monasteries in the US, maronitemonks.org/ and mmjmj.com.
The former is of Diocesan Right, (Eparchy of St Maron of Brooklyn). I’m not sure if the latter (Eparchy of Our Lady of Lebanon) has achieved that status yet, or if its still in the Pio Unio (or whatever the modern equivalent term is) stage. Neither is associated with traditional Maronite monasticism or with any of the three Maronite monastic Orders of Pontifical Right.
I’m not sure if the Melkites have monasteries in the US.
Although I don’t know its current status, the Basilian Salvatorians have (had) St Basil’s in Methuen, MA. melkite.org/?sm-location=st-basils-greek-melkite-catholic-seminary/
