So ever since Pope Benedict XVI lifted the excommunications on the four bishops consecrated by SSPX founder Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre, would it be schismatic to be ordained by them?

Would I be excommunicated if I went through an SSPX seminary and got ordained into the Society?

WHY would you want to do this when you can join the FSSP or the ICKSP? You seem to be backpeddling on your decision to be completely faithful to the Magisterium? Have you been on the idiot chat group again or is that turncoat that went and posted your old thread within minutes of you writing it badgering you?

As far as I know, the bishops and priests of the SSPX are still under suspensio a divinis, which means they cannot lawfully celebrate Mass or the sacraments. This would apply also to any men they ordained in the future, until the suspension is lifted. And because they lack canonical jurisdiction they are unable validly to confer the sacraments of Penance and Matrimony.

If you are devoted to the traditional Roman rite, you’d be much better off with the Fraternitas Sacerdotalis Sancti Petri.

Ad Orientum has given sound advise. I still hope and pray that there will be a reconciliation between Rome and Econe. Perhaps someday soon. Until then I attend the nearest FSSP parish. 👍

Better not do this, because of the serious risk of becoming a lost soul.

There is a weekly FSSP service here in my city and it’s beautiful. I would seriously look into this if I were you. If I had it to do all over again starting as a young teenager and knowing what I know now, I would have prepared myself academically, spiritually, morally, and with discipline to become a priest with them, or at the very least seriously discern a vocation with them. Unfortunately, none of that happened.

When I was going through RCIA when I was 35 I just knew I had missed my calling. I have ended up being a “helping voice” at two separate RCIA classes in the years that followed. People say I have a way of teaching the faith well. I knew as soon as I saw my first mass that the priest had the vocation (although I didn’t know to call it that then) that I was called into, but I had screwed up and it was too late. Young man I urge you if you feel you MIGHT be called to the priesthood to discern it somewhere, whether in a religious order or at your local seminary for your diocese. You just don’t know the heartache of a missed vocation, and there really does come a time when it’s too late. At the chance of offense to the SSPX folks I am going to say this: Young man if you start playing around with separated groups, it may well be too late for you sooner than you think.

I am going to say an additional rosary just for you tonight young man. Pray for me too OK? I have a new full time job and am trying to go to school full time to be a medical coder. It will take 18 months. After I get out of school and get a new job, I want to go to Guadalupe Bible College to maybe prepare myself to take up a serious apostolate teaching scripture.

Have you thought of becoming an FSSP priest? They celebrate the TLM Masses and have their own seminaries, but still are under the jurisdiction of the Pope while the SSPX isn’t.

AFAIK, the only automatic excommunication in this regard is incurred by a FSSPX bishop consecrating another one. Other than that, in the current situation, you would not have any legitimate ministry within the Catholic Church. You would still however be bound by Canon Law.

Google the SSPX ex-priests and you will find stories that will scare you. And yes, I understand that not everything on the net is true, but there are just too many to overlook. They are almost cultish.

This. Stay with Roman Catholicism, not the SSPX, if you have a calling to the vocation. If you enjoy Latin Mass, attend a Solemn Latin Mass in your area. I myself attend Latin Mass.

OP: ISAAC,

I have read a lot of your posts, and you seem to be a very mature & bright young man:thumbsup: KUDOS to your wonderful parents, they did a superb job:thumbsup:

PRO VOBIS is a very knowledgeable & wise poster. You will learn a lot by reading his posts. You have received wise advice from several posters as well.

I admire the devout people who attend the SSPX chapels, I have never been to one, BUT

In my humble opinion, I would stick with the Fraternity of Saint Peter=FSSP, in communion with ROME!!

The FSSP has a Seminary in Nebraska

“To God Who Giveth Joy To My Youth”

“Discover how one seminary receives a man and prepares him for his transformation into an Alter Christus, “Another Christ” for the glory of God and needs of souls.”

The formation video (the second one I linked to) is so beautiful! 👍 They interview seminarians, Bishops & I believe some benefactors.

ISAAC, I will keep you in my prayers:highprayer: God bless you. +PAX 🙂

I am happy that you made it HOME!!👍
I am sorry that you were not able to join a seminary. My understanding is that the FSSP & others accept you until the age of 35. I think that there might be a few out there who accept later vocations.

God bless you!
