Becoming an usher

I know now that you need to be a baptized member to be a lector, much to my dissapointment, can I become an usher even though I’m not baptized YET.
 
you may, in some parishes, but you will need to know something about how Mass “works”, the flow of events, who needs to be where, and when you can seat people and when they should remain respectfully at the back, also the layout of the church etc. did you ask your pastor?

there also may be other apostolates going on in the parish that need your help as well.

I know everything about the flow of mass, I go every sunday, I am very devoted to the Catholic church.

Can you give me some examples of other apostolates that may need my help?
 
then you need to ask your pastor what his rule is. I am not aware of any canon law reason why you could not serve if otherwise able, since there is no liturgical function being performed, but one of hospitality and assistance to the people. but the pastor is within his rights in making any conditions he sees fit as far as age, status etc.

There may be clean up days at the church-they are always in need of volunteers. You can also visit the sick and the aged or help at a soup kitchen or homeless shelter.

We have a jewish man, who is the husband of a very devout Catholic, who helps as an usher at mass when there is an extra need. He frequently comes to mass with his wife and 5 children.
