The directives specifically say Bars and Restaurants can operate at 75% capacity, and churches are limited to 30%. What is up with this discrepancy?

I would have guessed that waiters carrying food and drinks back and forth through crowds would pose more risk than people who come in a church and sit in one spot. For that matter, our church is opening, masks are required, and NO SINGING. Ushered in to a spot and ushered out. That kind of ‘crowd control’ isn’t going to happen in restaurants and bars.
 
Bureaucrats picking arbitrary random numbers. So it’s not going to make sense, unfortunately.
 
My guess is that the government wants to keep pressing a knee onto the necks of Christian places. The anti-abortion and pro marriage groups are getting tiresome and are a burdensome stone.

In my province, there are no percentage capacity limits on either churches or bar/restaurants. The basic rule is just that social distancing (2 metres) must be maintained.

That can result in significantly different maximum capacities depending upon the makeup of the occupants at any one time. Social distancing requires 2 metres between each person, or in the case of families/households between that family group and the next individual or family group. So, many more people can be accomodated if they are in family groups rather than single individuals. No idea how this can be managed, but that’s the rules.

However, the 2 metre restriction really reduces capacity. It requires a 2 metre zone in front, in back and to both sides of each person/family group. That’s a pretty big bubble that takes up a lot of space.

Churches and bar/restaurants (and casinos believe it or not) are the only ones allowed this more generous allowance. I believe all other indoor gatherings are limited to 50 people, period
