I am leaving to Europe soon and I will going to Vatican City. I was talking to my friend about my trip and I became weak and was afraid to say that I’m going to Rome instead of Vatican City. I honestly don’t know if I said this when I was thinking about how wrong it would be if I said Rome because I’m afraid. Would this be a mortal sin because I was afraid to share my Faith, or would it be a Mortal Sin because by doing this I denied Christ?

It is not a mortal sin.
You may want to think about why you felt you couldn’t say Vatican City to the particular friend. If you are self-conscious about your faith then this is a venial sin/fault to work on.
If the friend is critical of Catholics then maybe you need to make new friends.

No mortal sin. Congratulations on your upcoming trip. Be sure to visit the Vatican museum and climb to the top of the dome the view form there is very nice.

Are you kidding? the number of threads we get where people admit trivial things like this is alarming. it actually make me question the whole concept of “mortal sin” and how it is taught. People get obsessed by the idea. that’s not healthy in my view. God didn’t want us to be distracted by trivia. There are far more important things to focus on.

First, let me clarify.

You talked to your friend about your Vatican City trip, but you told him you were going to Rome.

You think it would be a mortal sin because:

a. You were afraid to share your faith.
b. By doing so, you denied Christ.

Please get to this as soon as you can; I want to help you!
