Does any know what the Church’s opinion or stance is on someone being a member of a paranormal group who report their findings of a possible demonic nature in a situation to the Church for their intervention in the situation?

:gopray::blessyou:I agree with the previous poster… stay away from such a group… they usually involve psychics and necromancers… mediums… and all manners of divination and the possibility of attempting to contact spirits… this is not only fobidden by the Church… but by God Himself… read Deut 18 … there you will find a very good reason for not being part of such things… apart form the fact that it is dangerous spiritually… the dead do not come back… and cannot ( in my opinion ) be summoned to answer people… usually in these situations it is demons which are in contact… The dead are Holy Souls… pray for them… but I would not have anything to do with anything that is in any way connceted with this… I beg you to stay away.

I guess I was not clear. This would be explained to someone as to why there should not be participation in this. I just needed some (name removed by moderator)ut as to how to explain it sufficiently.

Ahh I understand… I hope this helps… Its an area thats but attactive and seductive and very dangerous… God Himself forbids contact with mediums and so called psychics… I have seen Ghosthunters enough to know how they work with psychics and mediums… The words from the Bible in Deut 18 are very clear on this… and that is probably your best starting point… good luck and I will pray for you

Having studied the paranormal through books, speaking with a paranormal investigator, and watching live demonstrations of supposed paranormal investigations - most people do not know what they getting into.

First of all, you are putting yourself in spiritual danger. Demonic possession is real.

Ghosts are real. Jesus spoke of them. But entering a house or building that is exhibiting paranormal activity could open you to potential attack and demonic influence.

I an totally unconvinced that any of the gadgets being used prove anything. If anything can be proved with gadgets, it would be all over the TV and scientists would be reviewing the evidence. Since science cannot study the supernatural/paranormal, there are no official scientific studies that prove anything either.

I would talk to a priest first, before you go further, who would be best able to help with hauntings and other paranormal activity.

Peace,
Ed

There is one person, and one person only, who is authorized and able to research into demonic activity and thus to “intervene” (since any such research necessitates making contact with such entity… contact which is EXCEEDINGLY dangerous). That person is one who has been entrusted with authority to cast out demons… to wit: a bishop and/or his appointed exorcist.

If someone suspects they are the target of demonic attack, or that a location is subject to demonic activity, their ONE approved route by the church is to approach their diocesan exorcist about it. Going to a laygroup FIRST can only delay the required investigation into the claims, expose that laygroup and the person involved to greater danger, and prevent an exorcism from happening sooner (if it is needed).
